Midnight Raid Foiled: Armed Robbers Shot at Appeal Court Judge’s Home in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed a foiled robbery attempt at the residence of a Court of Appeal Judge in Kumasi, following the swift and courageous action of a police bodyguard on duty.

Preliminary investigations indicate that at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, two suspects, Patrick Alor (23) and Akwasi Gyamfi (21), scaled the fence wall of the judge’s residence armed with cutlasses and a pair of scissors.

The suspects allegedly attempted to forcibly break into the judge’s private vehicle when they were spotted by the police bodyguard.

During efforts to arrest them, the suspects reportedly attempted to disarm the officer.

Acting in self-defence and in line with police operational procedures, the bodyguard discharged his firearm, shooting both suspects in the legs.

The injured suspects were immediately transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where they are currently on admission, responding to treatment under police guard.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commended the vigilance, professionalism, and bravery of the officer, noting that his decisive action prevented what could have been a serious and dangerous attack.

Police have reiterated their commitment to protecting members of the judiciary and the general public, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
