Bawku Naba Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is cautioning his men against spreading the more than three decades of struggle in Bawku to other regions are inhabited by other tribes.
He claimed that the killings in Bawku, which affect all ethnic groups, are making an already dire situation worse.
Bawku Naba is pleading with the people of Kusaug to exercise restraint and permit Mamprusis from Nalerigu, Gambaga, and other places to carry on their trade and freely visit all of the markets in Kusaug.
He tells Mamprusis from the sites above sites that it will be safe to travel to the Sankansi market in Northern Togo while requesting tight protection in the area.
“I would want to appeal to all Kusaug residents to refrain from spreading the dispute in Bawku to other regions. In a statement released on August 22, Bawku Naba said, “I want to reassure Mamprusis from Nalerigu, Gambaga, and everywhere that they should feel free to continue doing business and supporting all markets in Kusaug or passing through to Sankansi market in Northern Togo.
He forbade illegal behavior among his subjects in the Kusaug Traditional Area, such as unwarranted, senseless, and unjustified attacks on innocent bystanders on the roads of this Traditional Area. He saw that for a while, it appeared his suggestions and cautions had been heard, and the region was free of such assaults.
However, it is regretful that just a few days ago, similar attacks struck again close to the Bawku Township on the Bawku-Bolgatanga highway, killing three people and inspiring retaliatory attacks inside the township, Bawku Naba said in a statement released this evening.
In order to prevent additional attacks, Bawku Naba is requesting that the security services take up a strategic, sufficient, and visible posture in the area.
In order to dissuade potential perpetrators, he is requesting that security personnel track down and prosecute such criminals.
The ongoing murders and retaliatory attacks in the Bawku Municipality have angered Bawku Naba Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II.
He asserted that an urgent exchange of views is necessary.
His remarks come in response to the recent shooting deaths of three people at Bawku by unidentified attackers.
The three people who passed away suddenly were traveling from Bolgatanga to Bawku in a car when they died near the entrance to Bawku Senior High School.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, between 2:45 and 3:00 pm, the incident took place.
In a statement released this evening, August 22, Bawku Naba stated that “what we urgently need in Bawku now is a mutual dialogue aimed at educating all the people to understand and accept the status quo and to find long-term solutions to the situation in Bawku that will enable us to live in peace together in a society in which violence is not an option.”
He claimed that the killings in Bawku, which affect all ethnic groups, are worsening an already dire situation.
Bawku Naba is urging the security personnel to find and put such criminals to justice in order to discourage future crimes while denouncing the most recent killings.
In order to stop new assaults, he is also requesting that the security services take up a tactically advantageous, sufficient, and obvious posture.
