Ghanaian boxing talent lit up the Idrowhyt Events Centre in Dansoman, Accra, as deaf boxer Emmanuel Mankattah Sackey and rising star Dana Kofi both claimed UBO Continental Africa titles in emphatic style during Cabic Promotions’ thrilling Big Fight Night on Friday, May 9, 2025. The night, which featured two major Ghana vs. Nigeria showdowns, confirmed Ghana’s growing dominance in the regional boxing scene.

The much-anticipated Cabic Big Fight Night delivered fireworks as Ghana’s boxers outclassed their Nigerian rivals to capture two UBO Continental Africa Championship titles in front of a packed house at the plush Idrowhyt Events Centre in Accra.

Deaf boxer Emmanuel Mankattah Sackey, 26, stole the spotlight with a stunning fifth-round knockout victory over Nigeria’s Yusuf Muhammed Olalekan to win the UBO Super Featherweight Title. Sackey, who now boasts a record of 9 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw (7 KOs), came out aggressive from the opening bell and eventually floored Olalekan with a decisive punch in the fifth round.

Olalekan, 29, who entered the ring with a strong 9-2 (7 KOs) record, struggled to match Sackey’s energy and was unable to continue after the knockout. Sackey’s dominant performance marks a milestone in his career and a symbolic victory for inclusivity in Ghanaian sports.

In the co-main event, Ghana’s Dana Kofi, affectionately known as Achilles, put on a dominant display against Nigerian veteran Sulaimon Olagbade, also known as Tyson Killer. Kofi, just 21 years old, forced a fourth-round TKO in their UBO Super Welterweight Championship contest. Kofi’s latest victory improves his record to 5 wins and 3 losses from 8 fights, further establishing his place among Ghana’s brightest boxing prospects.

Olagbade (15-13-2), who previously held the Nigerian national and West African Boxing Union titles and entered the ring with five consecutive knockout victories, was no match for the younger Ghanaian’s speed and technique.

In undercard action:

  • Daniel Quaye of Bronx Gym scored a first-round TKO over Michael Akramah Tetteh in their Welterweight contest.
  • Michael Darko defeated Patrick Cudjoe in a Middleweight bout.
  • Emmanuel Quaye edged Joseph Tagoe in a Super Welterweight clash.
  • Fredrick Lawson earned a fifth-round TKO against Justice Addy in another Super Welterweight matchup.

The night was a resounding success, not only in terms of action-packed fights but also in upholding safety and organizational standards. GBA President Abraham Neequaye ensured that all protocol, medical, security, and immigration requirements were strictly followed.
