Accra’s Bukom Boxing Arena will come alive on Friday, September 12, when Ernest “Baubali” Akushey takes on Jacob “The Beast” Dickson in a highly anticipated cruiserweight clash promoted by Sports Education and Management (SEM) Promotions.
Both fighters enter the bout seeking redemption after recent setbacks in the ring. Dickson, a former national cruiserweight champion, lost his WBC International Bridgerweight title bid against American-Nigerian fighter Andrew Tabiti. Akushey, meanwhile, was knocked out by Jonathan Tetteh in his last outing.
The long-demanded matchup between the two cruiserweights headlines SEM Promotions’ “Monaco – Night to Prove” card, designed to let fighters showcase their abilities rather than trade verbal jabs. Promoter Eddie Coleman recently staged a public appearance in Gbese to drum up excitement for the fight night.
In the co-feature, Kofi Dana faces newly signed SEM fighter Musa Rahman Lawson in a national super welterweight contest that pits Dana’s power against Lawson’s technical craft.
The undercard will feature popular names including John Laryea, Daniel Gorsh, Abubakar Kamoko, Obodai Sai, and Ghana-based Nigerian fighter Sampson Solomon across various weight classes. Amateur bouts featuring the Black Rockets club and juvenile fighters will open the evening, offering fans a glimpse of the next generation of boxing talent.
Beyond the ring action, the event will blend sports with entertainment, featuring live music performances to create a festival-like atmosphere. Tickets are priced at different tiers to cater to all fans, with VIP packages offering premium experiences.
Set in the heart of Accra’s boxing hub, Bukom Boxing Arena remains central to Ghana’s rich boxing tradition, having produced several world champions. SEM Promotions hopes Friday’s card will further develop local talent while thrilling fight fans with top-tier action.
