Over 15,000 residents from some four communities in the Nanton District of the Northern Region have directly benefited from some climate-resilient projects under The Labour-Intensive Public Works (LIPW) of the Ghana Productive Safety Net Project (GPSNP).
Over 1.4 million was disbursed to individuals in the beneficiary communities for providing labour
The Ghana Productive Safety Net Project is a Social Protection intervention of the government of Ghana.
It is aimed at strengthening social protection systems and improving the ability of poor and vulnerable people to be productive.
Under the initiative, community members were made to implement projects such as dam construction, road rehabilitation as well as nursing and raising cashew plantations and receive payment from the project funds as labour.
The Zonal Coordinator of the projects in Tamale, Samuel Amo-Nimoh told journalists the projects will improve the living conditions of the beneficiary communities and urged them to properly maintain the facilities.
District Chief Executive for Nanton Abdulai Murtala assured the assembly will properly monitor the projects.
