The second season of the Ghana Professional Boxing League began on March 18, with a bang as debutant Shakul Samir electrified the crowd.

With the presentation of the 14 gymnasiums taking part in the league, fight night 1 got underway.

Shakul’s super middleweight fight with Francis Akakpo got off to a slow start but gathered up steam in the middle of the fight, electrifying the crowd.
Eric Korley’s impressive, astonishing pound-for-pound exchanges with Frank Opping on his birthday resulted in a one-point victory for Korley.
The penitentiary service’s sergeant Anani Kutsokey won his cruiserweight match against Daniel Somotey of the sea view gym, while corporal Bawa Akankolim of the Ghanaian armed forces overcame Emmanuel Annoh from the seconds out gym.
Charlse Quarety Boxing Foundation, Panix, Akotoku Academy, Attoh Quarshie, Wisdom, Ghana Prison Service and the Ghana Armed Forces ended the night with three points apiece while Seconds out, Sea View, The Bridge, Bronx, Fit Square, Black Panters, and Palm Springs Gyms had no point to start with.
The fight night saw the son of the Ghana Boxing Authority, GBA, president, Cann Neequaye, making a successful debut with a unanimous point decision over Mumuni Sawado from Ivory Coast.
On Saturday, March 25, the second fight night of the season will take place.
