Seven persons are feared dead and several others are on admission at the Presbyterian hospital in the Bawku Municipality Sunday, December 18 following a renewed chieftaincy conflict there.
The incident began around 9 pm Saturday, December 17 after a group of unknown gunmen reportedly attacked and shot an elderly man and his son.
The man was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Presbyterian Hospital, while his son is battling for his life on admission.
The incident led to a widespread shooting across the municipality all night and Sunday, December 18 as a result of what is described as a reprisal response from both ends of the conflict.
The sustained gunshot across the municipality has led to several casualties.
Reports at midday Sunday suggested that seven people have been found dead while several others sustained gunshot would, some in critical condition at the hospital.
Currently, the streets of Bawku have been deserted as residents who are living in utter fear are compelled to stay indoors, bringing economic activities to a halt.
Religious activities have also been affected as churches and mosques remained closed Sunday, December 18.
