Health experts in the upper west region have cast doubt over Ghana attaining the sustainable Development Goals, SDGs 3 target by 2030.
According to the regional health director, Dr Damien Punguyire, though access to health facilities have improved in the region, the services provision lack quality.
Dr Damien was speaking at this year’s annual health sector performance review in Wa.
The sustainable development goal three of the aims at achieving universal health coverage in financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all.
Also to reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births.
With barely seven years for countries to achieve the target set by 2030, Ghana appears to be lacking behind.

These notwithstanding, the region has chalked some successes.
Dr Damien has appealed to government to commit more resources to the regions healthcare system.
The upper west regional minister, Dr Hafis Bin Salih, assured governments commitment to the call.
