Suspected jihadists have reportedly attacked the Zuaga police station, killed 4 police officers and burned the station into ashes in the northern province of Zabre in Burkina Faso.
The attack reportedly occurred around 5.30pm on Friday, January 13.
The gunmen suspected to be jihadists attacked the police station in the Zuaga and set the police station ablaze.
The Burkinabe polices reportedly returned fire killing 3 of the suspected jihadists, bring the reported death to 7 the reports said.
Hundreds of residents of Zuaga, Zabre and Abugri have fled into nearby Ghanaian communities in the Bawku West District of the upper east region, seeking asylum.
The asylum seekers are said to have spread in a number of communities including Zebilla, Soogo, Sapeliga, Agaago, Teshie, Kansoogo, and Widnaba.
The situation has heightened fear and panic among residents in communities along the Ghana-Burkina Faso border.
Our checks at the borders and the Ghana Immigration Service have confirmed the situation.
Currently, a joint security operations and surveillance have been intensified in Widnaba, Kansoogo, Kuboug Agargo, Sapeliga, Kulungungu and Pulmakom borders.
