The overload of Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, has called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the death of one person as a result of a chieftaincy clashes at Bomaa in the Tano Municipality of Ahafo Region.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, denied allegations of his involvement nor his subjects in the death of one Joseph Oduro Beniako, aka Kwane Joe, who died during the observance of the final funeral rite of the late chief of the area.

He described the death of Kwame Joe as unfortunate and an abominable and callous act, calling on the inspector general of police to institute thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death and to identify the culprits to be brought to book.

The overload of Dormaa again called on the people of Bomaa to promote peace by allowing the new chief to play his roles that would enable them to go about their legitimate duty without fear or favour.

In the estimation of the Omaahene of Dormaa development has stalled on Bomaa because of the absence of a substantive chief in the area hence the installation of the new chief, Barima Kyeremeh Gyanaa, to lead development.

Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II was speaking during a media encounter in Sunyani to threw more light on the circumstances under which the incident happened leading to the death of one person.

The Dormaahene traditional rule has oversight responsibility over Bomaa, Abesim, Chiraa and Bomaa, which have no royal gates or families from which a chief is selected.

According to him, and per the tradition and history, ascension to the stool of Bomaa, has and was always through appointment by the queen mother of Dormaa Ahenkro in close consultation and collaboration with the kingmakers of Bomaa.

‘Since 1670 when the people of Dormaa migrated from Akwamu through to the various communities including Suntreaso in Kumasi, Bomaa, Abesim, Chiraa and the present day Dormaa, they never left a queen mother, hence the Dormaa queen mother has always acted as the queen mother of the area, the Dormaahene explained.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, said it is by this tradition that the queen mother of Dormaa went to Bomaa to perform the usual traditional customs to pave way for burial of the late chief of the area, Nana Kwafo Akoto, who passed in 2021.

The Dormaahene regretted that the revered traditional rites could degenerate into violence clashes leading to the loss of a life due largely to person parochial interest of some individuals even after the Bono Regional House of Chiefs had dismissed a writ seeking to injunct the process.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, apologized to those who have been hurt in one way or the other but urged them to bury their differences to unit behind the new chief to spur development.

The Dormaahene urged the security agencies to be unbiased in their investigation to help identify the true culprits to face justice, adding that no one is above and can be above the law.
