The Member of Parliament(MP) for Hemang Lower Denkyira in the Central Region, Bright Wireko-Brobbey was forced to leave the constituency office after some irate youth hooted and chased him away on Saturday December 17, 2022.
The Hemang Lower DenkyiraMP who doubles as the Deputy minister for employment and labour relations.
The angry youth hooted at him, chanting war songs to register their displeasure over what they describe as his selfish leadership and lack of infrastructural development in the area.
The protest by the residents came in the wake of the MP allegedly tempting to suspend some party polling stations executives who he claimed were not supporting him.
The aggrieved youth claimed their mp, Bright Wireko-Brobbey is only interested in his personal welfare than those who elected him to be a parliamentarian.
According to the group, Bright Wireko-Brobbey’s interested is in sharing money to influence votes in his favour.
A leading member of the agrieved group, Kwadwo Afrifa, who was the former polling station chairman at Abrafo alleged that during 2020, six hardworking party executives, the Constituency Secretary, Isaac Obeng Antwarko, his assistant, Nana Kwaku Abban, First Vice Chairman, Yahaya Issah, Communications Director, Kofi Osei Adu, Deputy Nasara Coordinator, Dauda Issah and the Constituency Youth Organizer, Richard Ofori-Quartey, were suspended, a dispute which was later resolved by the Central Regional Disciplinary Committee.
The group claimed the situation led to president Akufo Addo gaining more votes than the MP in the 2020 General elections, adding that they would not sit down for the same fate to happen again in 2024 election.
Another angry youth, Kwadwo Tibu, alleged that the MP fraudulently selected his people for the polling station executives positions, who after realizing his selfish intends, failed to heed to his bidding hence the threat to suspend them.
The aggrieved youth claimed that their MP, Bright Wireko-Brobbey is the worst lawmaker they have ever had, and that they would do all in their power to ensure his exit.
