Bawku Day Students Cry Out over Chieftaincy Crisis (Video)

Day students in second-cycle schools in the country often complain of the inability to do homework and commuting expenses.

The insecurity in the Bawku Municipality of the Upper East region has worsened the plight of students in the area.

Day students of second-cycle institutions are calling for absorption into the boarding school’s system to help improve their learning.

According to the students, the ongoing conflict in Bawku is negatively impacting their academic work.

Almost every human activity within the Bawku municipality has suffered some form of dislocation since the chieftaincy conflict reignited on November 24, 2021.

One of the hardest hits by this insecurity is day students of second-cycle schools in the area.

This group of students say they have to stay away from academic activities for as long as the environment is unsafe.

During the period, their counterparts in the boarding houses continue with their academic curriculum.

Among those bearing the brunt of the conflict are students of the Bawku senior high, Bawku secondary technical and Bawku technical schools.

The students opened up on their difficulties during a peace tour organized by the Kusaug youth movement of Bawku.

The initiative aimed at sensitizing the people on the need to promote peace among all the people of Bawku and its environs.

The national president of the Kusaug youth movement, Abugri Haruna, called on all within the Bawku municipality to embrace peace irrespective of race, colour and ethnicity.

Other members took turns to call for peace for Bawku.
