The Ghana Police Service will begin the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1, 2026.
The initiative, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is aimed at tackling road indiscipline and improving compliance with traffic laws.
Under TRAFFITECH-GH, cameras and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices will be used to detect traffic offences.
Detected violations will be reviewed, after which Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued to vehicle owners or drivers via SMS. The notices will indicate the offence committed and the prescribed fine.
The Police are urging motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to comply with road traffic regulations as the system comes into full operation.
The Service says TRAFFITECH-GH is intended to promote safer roads and help reduce road crashes and fatalities.
