Kenya having suffered multiple terrorist attacks, one of such claimed the life of a Ghanaian professor of art, Mr. Kenyatta reminded colleague heads of state the need to cooperate and heighten the fight against terrorism.
He was speaking as the guest of honour at Ghana’s 59th Independence Day Parade at the Black Star Square in Accra on Sunday.
Uhuru Kenyatta pointed out, “it cannot be that terrorist attacks become the norm rather than the exception”.
Terrorism has become a challenge that African leaders must overcome in order to keep the value of democracy and give true meaning to their independence, he stated
“We must come together to defeat our enemy that is destroying our people’s way of life,” he reiterated the threat being posed by terrorists to the continent’s peace and security.

The Kenyan president also recalled with fond memories Ghana’s longstanding mutual relationship with Kenya dating back to the 40s when his father Jomo Kenyatta and Ghana’s first president Dr. kwame Nkrumah mooted Pan Africanism.
He pledged the commitment of his country Kenya to continue to work with Ghana for the mutual benefit.
Mr. Kenyatta was delighted that Nkrumah’s vision for Pan Africanism is steadily being realized with the launch of African Union’s Agenda 2063. The agenda, he noted, is determined to bring Africans closer together to amalgamate their ideas and ensure their integration to sustain the socio economic and political development of Africa.
He touched on what he described as a “deliberate shift to boost inter-African trade” as he dreams of a “borderless African continent”. He hoped Kenya will work with Ghana to realize that vision.
The 6th March anniversary was graced by Jose Mario Vaz, Presidents Guinea Bissau, two surviving former presidents of Ghana, members of the diplomatic corps, leading political leaders and other important dignitaries.
