Only one of the 31 individuals who picked nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primaries for the opposition NDC in the upper west region is a female.
Records available at the regional communication directorate showed 23 of the aspirants as new entrants and eight sitting members of parliament.
The opposition national democratic congress, NDC, will on May 13, hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries across all 275 constituencies to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
Per the NDC timetable, filling of nomination ends on Wednesday march 22, with a non-refundable fee of 40,000 cedis for males and 20,000 cedis for female parliamentary aspirants.

The Wa central and the Nadowli-Kaleo constituencies recorded the highest number of aspirants of four each while Wa west, Wa east, Jirapa, Lawra, Lambussie and Sissala east constituencies have three aspirants each.
The Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, Sissala west, and Nandom constituencies have two aspirants each picking nomination forms.
One of the new entrants in the race is dr. Titus Beyou, who resigned as the general secretary for the Ghana medical association to contest for the Lambussie seat.
