Former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Peter Nanfuri Passed

The Former inspector General of Police under the Jerry John Rawlings regime, and a traditional ruler, Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri, has died.

Family sources told paqmediagh that the former IGP died on Thursday February 16, 2023.

Prior to his appointment as an inspector general of police, Peter Nantfuri, who was tagged a ‘No Nonsense man’ was appointed the Director of the Bureau of National investigation, BNI, in 1986.

The former IGP served in this capacity diligently for ten years 1986-1996, when he was appointed as the Inspector General of Police.

Peter Tenganabang Nantfuri was later enskinned the Paramount Chief for the Jirapa Traditional area with the title Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II, following his retirement from the Ghana Police Service, in 2007.

He was born on October 12, 1942 in Jirapa in the Upper West Region, and had his tertiary education at the University of Ghana, Legon.
