A governance expert and CEO of John Kufuor foundation, professor Baffour Agyemang Duah, is proposing the re-institution of the national trust fund to serve as a vessel to drive the retooling of Ghana’s security services.
He argues that attempts at making the police and other security agencies professional and less corrupt must begin with shielding them direct from public favours.
Opinions are divided over donations by private individuals and groups to the ghana police service and other sister security agencies.
Those who support the idea, maintain that since government is unable to meet the needs of the police, direct individual donations are critical.
But a governance expert, professor Baffour Agyemang Duah disagrees
He acknowledged the importance of public support for policing, but insisted it must not attract funfair between the benefactor and the beneficiary
Professor Baffour Agyemang Duah want a central fund to help build the country’s security systems.
