The founder and director of the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation, Coach Charles Quartey, has expressed his displeasure over the decision by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) after the abrupt end of the ultimate bout of the Fight Night 20 of the second season of the Ghana Professional Boxing League.
The last bout of the last fight between Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation and the Ghana Armed Force, was abandoned in the last round after a sudden chaos in the stands leading to the military personnel chasing out the patrons from the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The Ghana Boxing Authority later constituted a committee to investigate the incident.
The GBA decision after the investigation was that the Ghana Army won the night, a decision that did not go down well with Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation.
In an interview with Sammy Heywood Okine of Ultimate SportsGh fame, founder and head trainer, Charles Quartey, disagreed disagrees with the decision of the committee and the GBA, adding that his team will analyze the situation and come out with appropriate advise.
The gym believed they won the night and accused the GBA President, Abraham Neequaye, his executive board and the promoters, Imax Promotions of not been fair in most of their decisions.
An assistant Coach, Ernest Ofori, noted that the Ghana Boxing authority is in the hands of wrong leaders, insisting that he may quit the coaching job to venture into pastoral business.
He hinted that their outfit may boycott the League to avoid being cheated and mistreated.
Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation won the last edition of the League and were on the verge of defending it.
There was only one point separating the gym and the Ghana Armed Forces at the second position after fight night 19.
And as fate may have it, the two gyms faced each other in the final bout of the season.
The fight was traveling well with both boxers trying their best to ensure the carry the night for themselves and for their gyms when all of a sudden there was pandemonium in the stands, with less than three minutes to the end of the challenge.
Aside from the the records of the two gyms, both boxers came into the ring with equally interesting fight records.
They both had two fights apiece, won all and have huge followers.
